As part of The Maker’s Fair this September, I will be exhibiting my paintings at The Crypt Gallery in Seaford, East Sussex from Saturday 2nd September until Sunday 17th.
The exhibition follows a brief, ‘Pathways’, and my interpretation is Footwear. I’ve long been interested creatively in boots and shoes, inspired intitally when I stumbled across Van Gogh’s ‘Peasants Boots’ when studying. And as a result, footwear has led me to think about how it is linked to a person’s identity. So although footwear is a conduit for a physical journey - a walk, a trek, beating a pathway through the countryside, footwear is also a style journey, a space to create or reinforce an identity (look at doc martens and their formidable 20th century sub-culture associations!) So with a bi-fold take on Pathways, shoes & boots will be my go to exhibits!
The Crypt Gallery is a lovely space on the East Sussex coast in Seaford, BN25 1HD.
